Your lawn can be a pivotal part of your home. Trying to choose who to trust with your land can be a daunting task. What questions do I ask? How do I get in contact? Let’s look at some questions you can ask to help your search along.

How big is your project? Are you wanting to redo your entire yard or do you only want a few things done? It’ll make your life a lot easier if you can detail exactly what you want done and where. Write down information that you’d like to show your potential landscaper and maybe even draw what you’d like done in a diagram to get the full idea of what you’d like to do. Communication is key. If you have everything detailed that you’d like done, your landscaper should have no problem working with you.

Who should I hire? If you’re looking for recommendations, make sure to ask the people who live around you. Reach out to friends and family who live in the area and ask if they have anyone who they liked working with. Search online to see who’s in your area and see if they have any reviews. Do they have any photos of past work you can view? What’s their experience like? How long have they been doing landscaping? Are they insured? Are they licensed in the areas they need to be in? These are all things you should consider.

What’s your timeline? Making sure you hire someone who understands your vision is essential. You’ll be working with them on a timeline and you’ll want to know exactly when they’ll be done. How many other clients do they have? When will they be able to start? When do they think the project will be completed? Depending on the complexity of your project, you’d need to know if everything can get done in a timely manner.

How much will this cost and how do I pay? Once again, depending on your project the cost can vary. Some landscapers will have a payment plan or financial options. It’d be best to avoid anyone who wants you to pay in full before they even start the project. You want to use a method that gives you proof of payment. Get estimates from everyone you’re looking into and figure out the best one for your budget and for your lawn.

Do you have a guarantee for my project? Most landscaping companies will honor a certain year guarantee for their work. Check and see if any of your potential landscapers have one. Anything from two to five years is an average for many companies. Some companies don’t offer one, so just keep this in mind.

Choosing a landscaping company doesn’t have to be stressful! Make sure to keep all these questions and concerns in mind while looking through potential candidates. Pick the most desirable company that will work with you on your project and has great communication. If you’re feeling great about your hire after that, you’ve probably made a great decision!
